We are pleased to announce our brand new Benchmarks in Open Beta. This will allow us to collect insights so we can determine the score targets more accurately and collect feedback for the scenarios.
The following changes are made to the benchmarks:
- We are removing the movement benchmarks, because they’re too easily exploited to maximize scores, which is counter intuitive for improvement and measuring skill. In addition, the current settings in KovaaK 2.0 do not allow us to make the desired changes, so that the scenarios could be better for benchmarking.
- The remaining three (core) aiming categories Tracking, Clicking and Switching are now divided in six sub-categories. This was an idea suggested by a few community members in the past, and a similar concept was adopted by Chiri & Mana and rA.
- To apply for a regular aiming rank you would now need one score in each category, two scores for upgraded ranks, and all scores in each category for the complete ranks.
- The benchmarks will be divided in two levels: Diamond and above and Platinum and below. Players who are below Diamond should play the easier benchmarks, whereas players who are Diamond and above should play the harder benchmarks. The easier benchmarks are indicated with the word Easy (there are no easier static versions). We did this to ensure players aren’t developing bad habits from playing scenarios that are too challenging for them, while giving other players enough challenge at higher levels.
The coming week(s), we will be collecting data and feedback to tune the score targets and scenarios accordingly. Please bear in mind that these changes are not live yet, but are planned to be released after some tuning in the coming week(s). For this reason we ask you to not get too attached to your scores, because the scenarios and score targets are subject to change which may result in a reset on the leaderboard or changes in requirements.
Prospects Requirements release
The Prospect requirements rely on the new benchmark changes, this means that new Grandmaster applicants will not be able to apply for Prospects yet. However, current Grandmaster players can apply for Prospects with their current rank (with the exception of the games CSGO, Valorant and Siege as they will require at least 2 Static Clicking scores to be eligible).
Note that the Prospect requirements are subject to change, but players who have joined the Prospects team will be grandfathered in.
To apply for Prospects you will need to either qualify for the Blitz requirements or meet the in-game requirement (link below) and achieve specific Grandmaster scores in the respective subcategories.
